About Us

Hear from our students

At Cornerstone, I am able to take courses at cheaper tuition rates than other colleges. Plus, the professors are very friendly and every class feels personal.

Daniel Gowaty CCS Student

I loved taking the Biblical Counseling course last semester. All-in-all, that was one of my favorite courses that I have taken.

Caedryn McKenna CCS Student

Professor Jay quickly became a favorite professor of mine for his similar sense of humor compared to mine, but also his love for helping others in cultivating their own sound theology.

Daniel Milam CCS Student

One of my favorite parts about CCS is the community. I am always excited to come to class because everyone is so friendly and I know my presence is appreciated.

The Lord has blessed CCV in many ways, not the least of which by sending us Dr. Julie Wallace. Dr. Wallace brings a wealth of experience in education as both a professor and administrator in a variety of educational institutions. Over the past few years at CCV, Dr. Wallace has played a key role in our transformation, accreditation efforts and recent CCV facility sale and college relocation. Such a blessing indeed. Welcome to our new President at CCV – Dr. Julie Wallace.

Former Presidents of CCV

Dr. Julie Wallace Becomes President

In 2016 Dr. Gary Foss wished to step down as President of the Fredericksburg Bible Institute and Seminary (FBIS). At that time the official Board for FBIS was the Board at Fredericksburg Christian School (FCS). Gary Foss and the Chairman of our FCS/FBIS Board Robert Duffy reached out to Dr. Richard Barnett requesting he serve as the next President of FBIS. Dr. Barnett began his service as FBIS President in May, 2016.

Early in Dr. Barnett’s tenure at FBIS, a partnership with Lancaster Bible College (LBC) was established where FBIS courses could be applied toward a fully accredited degree at LBC in areas such as Business Administration, Criminal Justice and Biblical Studies.

The partnership with LBC required significantly enhanced academics at FBIS with professional focus and led naturally to new mission, new vision, new goals, new name, new Board and the subsequent Board decision to seek accreditation.

Fredericksburg Bible Institute and Seminary became Cornerstone College of Virginia (CCV) to include establishing their own official Board. In parallel, through the Gary Foss Memorial Scholarship, an outreach to young students began that has transformed both our focus and our culture.

The decision to transform Cornerstone and seek accreditation has been expensive. While initially funded by donations, our CCV Board decided to provide continued funding of the transformation and accreditation process through sale of our wholly owned and paid for academic facility. With the recent sale of our facility, transformation well on its way, and the pathway to accreditation clearly established, it is a natural and appropriate time for our President Dr. Richard Barnett to retire.

Cornerstone College of Virginia is thrilled to announce Dr. Julie Wallace as our new president. As an accomplished educator, leader, and speaker, Dr. Wallace brings a wealth of experience and wisdom to our institution. Dr. Wallace began her tenure with CCV as an administrative assistant, then Administrative Dean, then Provost and most recently chosen by our CCV Board to serve as our next President.

It is my pleasure to serve the college community with passion and zeal to institute initiatives propelling the college forward by increasing academic rigor, removing barriers that hinder individuals from pursuing higher education, promoting excellence in administration, and focusing on student-centered success. How does a college focusing on religious and Bible education fit into today's culture? Research indicates that our society values individuals who know who they are, are confident in their abilities, have personal integrity, and have critical thinking skills to navigate the complexities of world issues. At Cornerstone College of Virginia, we fulfill our mission by successfully graduating students who exhibit these qualities and know their God-given purpose. That is what I am passionate about. It is about each student. How can we partner in their education to empower them for a future to positively impact our world? That is a thrilling prospect! People’s lives change through education. I've seen it in my own life, my children's, and our students' lives. We offer a double blessing to individuals and the community because we fuse education and faith into our curriculum. Personal knowledge of God and vocational education give individuals a higher purpose and provide the community with higher-quality workers and professionals. When we fulfill the mission of Cornerstone College of Virginia to provide a Christ-centered pathway to a theological and professional education that fully equips students for kingdom work in the church and the world, we make a positive difference in our families and the community.

At Cornerstone College of Virginia, we are confident that Dr. Wallace will lead us with excellence, guiding our community to new heights of academic and spiritual growth. Please join us in welcoming her to our team!
